Our annual Symposium is held each March. This day-long event takes place just before our Annual Membership Meeting.
Spend the weekend exploring New York State's hidden (and sometimes not so hidden) Canal gems. 2023 study trips will be:
April 23-24, 2023 - including an introduction to the new Samuel Center for Canal History in Port Byron, NY
October 6-8, 2023 - based in Albany, NY, celebrating the bicentennial of the Champlain Canal
Every two years we hold a formal conference for canal advocates across New York State.
The 2022 New York State Canal Conference was held October 2-4 in Rochester
The Canal Society hosts regular events at the Samuel Center for Canal History (formerly St. Johns Church) at 36 Rochester St in Port Byron, NY.
